How ranking works
Last updated 2 October 2026
TVpick’s data-driven recommendations combine published TV specifications, ML-based evaluation, retailer observations and editorial calibration. The TVpick Quality Score is our model’s assessment, displayed on a 0–100 scale. It is separate from customer review averages.
Published specifications and data sources
We match manufacturer information and retailer listings, mainly Amazon and Flipkart, to each model and screen size. Specifications, images, prices and retailer links come from these sources. Missing specifications remain unknown; disputed fields are identified. Automated extraction and AI-assisted processing help organise the data, with corrections reflected in later catalogue builds.
ML-based quality rankings
Our scoring release combines specification-based evaluation with models calibrated against independent laboratory review data where available. Model estimates for televisions without those measurements are estimates, not measurements made by TVpick. Editorial calibration and brand-related inputs also form part of the scoring release. We do not test televisions in our own laboratory.
Overall and gaming views weight capabilities for different uses. Gaming lists apply the catalogue’s gaming eligibility rules. Published model outputs are computed offline and served by the website; the displayed score uses a presentation scale and rounding. A family can contain several sizes, so compare the specifications and price of the actual size you intend to buy.
Value for Money and real price drops
Value for Money combines quality and the observed price, including comparisons with televisions of similar size. It can change when prices change. A high value score does not itself mean a discount. Deal signals compare a listing’s observed price with its own recorded price history; retailer MRP discounts and conditional bank offers are identified separately.
Top Rated and Popular badges
Where a comparison shows a combined buyer rating, it uses retailer customer ratings on an Amazon-equivalent scale. Flipkart ratings are converted using 5 × (rating / 5)^1.16, then averaged with Amazon ratings using review counts as weights; Flipkart counts are divided by 3.58 for weighting. The displayed count remains the actual combined retailer count. This is TVpick’s calculated summary of retailer feedback, separate from the TVpick Quality Score. The comparison requires at least 30 Amazon-equivalent reviews before marking a rating best. This calculated rating is not published as aggregateRating in Product structured data.
Top Rated means every supported retailer with rating data meets our thresholds: at least 4.2 out of 5 from 50 reviews on Amazon, or at least 4.3 from 200 reviews on Flipkart. One retailer is sufficient when the other has no rating data. These are retailer customer ratings, not reviews submitted to TVpick. We do not republish them as a TVpick aggregate review rating in structured data.
Popular identifies the leading televisions in our popularity output. It combines Amazon and Flipkart product review counts using a statistical model to estimate relative shopper interest. The method accounts for shared review pools, screen sizes and model year. The current method selects the top 30 TVs; Top Rated takes display precedence when both apply. Popularity describes shopper interest, not picture quality or a verified sales total.
Retailer observations, freshness and location
Prices, stock, delivery estimates and bank offers are retailer observations shown with their observation dates where available. A selected city can change price and delivery availability. Delivery dates are retailer estimates. Recorded national prices do not establish availability at every pincode. Confirm the current seller, price, delivery and offer conditions on the retailer’s website before paying.
The catalogue applies freshness rules to retailer observations. Static search titles and descriptions omit price figures so an older page cannot advertise a stale price. Product structured data uses catalogue identity and specifications; we omit price offers from the static snapshot because it has no automatic expiry or location-specific refresh guarantee.
Affiliate relationships and corrections
TVpick is an independent discovery and comparison site. Purchases happen at the retailer; TVpick does not sell or deliver televisions. Affiliate links may earn us a commission, but a retailer or manufacturer cannot pay to change a ranking. Read our affiliate disclosure and send a correction if a source or model detail needs attention.
Rankings can change with new catalogue data, corrected specifications, price observations and scoring releases. They help compare the listed televisions; your room, viewing habits and preferences still matter.
